Today's Mining engineer travels widely all over the world and is constantly involved in various aspects ranging from design, planning, development, operations, production, environmental compliance, marketing, sales to financial diligence, legal and management issues.
So, if you like to work in an intense, team oriented, highly specialized, challenging environment and travel the world, this is the major for you. You will get intimately hands-on with various aspects of drilling, blasting (explosives), heavy earth moving equipment, as well as utilizing state of the art computer aided design and management of operations.
Our students in the Mining Engineering program are active in several industry organizations, and also get excellent summer internships. Recent students have worked all over the United States, as well as Bolivia, South Africa and Australia.
